Manuel Rendón Seminario was born in Paris, France in 1894.

Manuel Rendó n was raised France. Born to Ecuadorian parents, he moved to Ecuador for the first time at the age of twenty-four. In 1917 he studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris.

Rendón is considered one of the artists that brought the Constructivism movement to Ecuador and Latin America. He exhibited regularly at the various Parisian Salons including the Automne, the Nationale, and the des Tuilleries, as well as at L'effort Moderne with Leger. Rendón traveled back and forth between Paris and Ecuador, and his work was included in the 1946 UNESCO exhibition. His paintings have been shown in São Paulo, Quito, Caracas, Washington D.C. and Madrid.

Some of Rendón's works are known for their warm, earthy tones, while his non-figurative works recall the luminous effects of stained glass. His works were modern and abstract.

Rendón has influenced many generations of artists throughout Latin America and Europe. He died in Portugal in 1982.
